BEN ROCCA On Sat the 10th of Feb

 

Benjamin is currently a recording and performing jazz pianist living in Hertfordshire on the border of London. He has worked and composed music with a number of different bands and ensembles across the UK including the ‘CCCU Big Band’ lead by renowned trumpeter Steve Waterman, ‘Hertfordshire Show Band’, the modern jazz band, ‘The Thirteen Club’ and the exciting ‘The Rocca Brothers Quintet’. he has also performed in a variety of different settings including Wembley Arena, Jazz After Dark in Soho and a vast number of different hotels and music venues across London.

His musical influences stretch from bebop pioneers such as Bud Powell right through to Keith Jarrett and Herbie Hancock as well as modern day jazz pianists such as Robert Glasper.

He will play with Nia, one of our regular musicians.

Deborah Carew On Sat the 17th of Feb

This enigmatic, London vocalist has been involved in a few projects over the last few years, ranging from a Jazz quartet playing contemporary arrangements of standards and pop classics, and gracing such venues as PizzaLive Soho Dean Street, and the Pheasantry in Chelsea. Along with an early jazz trio performing around the UK. Deborah also pens here own songs and compositions which she recently performed at Theatre Royal Stratford East’s Global Folk – a new acoustic songwriter night.

Deborah will be performing with a long time accompanist and great talent, John Crawford on keyboard.

Tunde & Nia On the 24th of Feb

Pianist Tunde Lunan started playing the Piano at 7 years old. He focuses primarily on jazz piano but is also very much influenced by neo-soul and hip hop. He obtained a First Class Honours Degree in Instrumental Teaching where he graduated with a First Class (Hons) at Chichester University. As a Musician he has performed at many different prestigious venues such as Whitgift Centre, Brasserie Blanc, Chichester Jazz Club and La Havana Jazz Club.

Nia has been involved with jazz groups for a few years and she has now taken up a Masters course in Jazz at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Her inspirations include Butch Warren, Miles Davis, traditional Afro-Cuban Los Munequitos de Matanzas and many more. She currently hosts a weekly jazz session in South London.

THE MO-BO DUO ON SAT THE 3rd OF MARCH

The Mo-Bo Duo play just about any type of music in a jazzy style, from 1940s and 50s Swing and Bebop to 1960s Cool and Bossa Nova right up to the smooth jazz and funk of the 1980s, and on to the acid jazz and RnB styles of today.

Richard and Dave have been playing together in various groups for many years; more recently their work together has mainly been as a two piece, the Mo-Bo Duo. The name comes from a combination their surnames: Morrison and Bold.

Dave & Richard see guitar and bass as the perfect instrumental duo. Small, portable, tuneful, rhythmic, lively, chilled, ambient, and as quiet or loud as you need it to be.
